South Florida's manufacturing wages rose 14 percent since 2000

South Florida wages for manufacturing jobs rose by 14 percent between 2000 and 2010, even as employment declined, according to a Brookings Institute study released Wednesday.

The 2000 average wage for Miami in manufacturing industries was $45,700. In 2010, the average manufacturing wage was about $52,000, Brookings said.

During the same period, employment in manufacturing industries in Miami dropped by 44 percent.
